Field Trips to ORC for School Aged Students

Educational Field Trips (Grades 4–12)

The Ojai Raptor Center offers one-hour, on-site field trips for students in grades 4–12. Programs are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and designed for classes of up to 30 students with only the necessary number of chaperones.

What to Expect

Students will explore raptor biology through a combination of hands-on learning and live demonstrations:

  • Biofacts Table – Students can examine feathers, feet, study skins, and other specimens to discover raptor adaptations like flight mechanics, hunting strategies, and sensory abilities.

  • Ambassador Presentations – Non-releasable raptor ambassadors bring those adaptations to life, demonstrating natural behaviors while educators share insights into raptor ecology, conservation, and the reasons these birds cannot return to the wild.

Customization & Add-Ons

  • Curriculum Integration – Programs can be tailored to complement your class’s learning goals.

  • Optional Add-Ons – Available seasonally and based on staff availability.

  • Spanish-Language Programs – Offered upon request.
